### It goes without saying that, nowadays, the professional environment is primarily digital. Documentation is usually saved on a computer or on the cloud, processes are digitized and automated, transactions are performed by email, and so on. In such a context, it is important not to lose sight of the security aspects of digital lives. Would you like to know how?

### Complex, varies and changing passwords

All too often we fall into lazy habits with the passwords we use. In professional contexts, many people simply use the name of the company or their own name. Worse still, they even use 123456 or something similar. Don’t fall into this most basic of traps and ensure that you have a password with a minimal level of security. You can use less common characters, such as ‘ç’ and ‘$’, or alternate between letters and numbers, for instance. In an ideal situation, we would have a different password for each application, thereby significantly reducing the risk of being hacked. Moreover, it is also advisable to change your password regularly.

### Encryption is your ally

Although good password management can increase the security of your digital life considerably, it may not be enough. If you have sensitive documentation that you particularly want to protect, it is advisable to use an encryption system to enhance security.

### Choose platforms with guarantees

Not all of the platforms and software that you use in the various processes of your company are equally secure. When contracting a service or purchasing a product of this kind, find out which option gives you more guarantees and take that into account when making your choice.

### Avoid open wifi

We all know that, when we are [travelling](https://www.captio.com/blog/basic-glossary-for-corporate-travellers-i), it is hard to resist the temptation of connect to a free wifi service in a restaurant, hotel, airport, etc. However, this type of connection is particularly dangerous, as the level of security is extremely low and hackers are well aware of this.
